Housing Justice and Advocacy

United Way of the Columbia-Willamette joined a variety of other non-profits, in supporting and advocating for legislation that helps build housing stability.

In the 2023 Legislative Session, we worked to support the passage the Stable Homes for Oregon Families Homelessness Prevention Package. This critical package of bills will have immediate benefits for the four in 10 Oregon households who rent their homes, reduce evictions for non-payment when other options exist, limit extreme rent increases and spur new housing development. Additionally, a slew of new data will be available to better assess the rental market so housing availability is better understood and accessible.
